Smiths Medical Selects Software From ToolsGroup to Manage Inventory Across Global Network

LONDON--(Marketwire - Nov 14, 2011) - ToolsGroup, a global provider of Demand Driven Supply Chain Planning solutions, today announced that Smiths Medical, a leading global medical device manufacturer, has chosen its SO99+ inventory optimisation software to enhance its Oracle E-Business Suite applications. Following a successful six months pilot, Smiths plans to roll-out SO99+ across its global network.

Throughout the remainder of 2011 and into 2012, Smiths Medical plans to progressively roll out SO99+ across its factories and distribution centres globally. Based on the evidence of a systematic six-month pilot, the application is expected to dovetail smoothly into existing planning systems and processes. Using the powerful SO99+ optimisation functionality, Smiths Medical anticipates a reduction in global working capital coupled with improved levels of stock availability and a consequential increase in line fill and ultimately, improved profit.

Ron Frisbie, Vice President Global Operations of Smiths Medical, commented, "In the current global health care climate, it is increasingly important to look for efficiency savings at every link in the supply chain. We chose SO99+ for its proven record in helping global manufacturing businesses like ours with variable demand patterns and a long product tail to meaningfully reduce costs without compromising customer service excellence."

Martin Woodward, Managing Director of ToolsGroup UK, commented, "We are very pleased to have Smiths Medical join our growing roster of medical device customers, each of which have saved millions by improving the efficiency and accuracy of their inventory planning."
