Smithsonian and VariGuard Presenting at Washington Conservation Guild's Event: "Outsmarting Light: SmartGlass Technology in Exhibitions"

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - November 05, 2014) - Museums can now show the public light-sensitive documents and other artifacts that otherwise literally might not see the light of day. Dr. Seth Van Voorhees, President of VariGuard (a business unit of Research Frontiers) will present and demonstrate its products at the Washington Conservation Guild's November meeting. Linda Edquist, Conservator and Head of the Preservation Office at the National Postal Museum will also present a talk on how she used VariGuard panels to safely exhibit the most sensitive objects they have ever presented to date, the 2011 anthrax attack letters and covers.

Seth Van Voorhees, President of VariGuard, commented: "VariGuard display panels offer the highest level of protection against UV and visible light damage in the industry. We are honored that the Smithsonian National Postal Museum entrusted VariGuard display panels to protect their most light-sensitive artifacts. Together we will be reporting the results of testing at the National Postal Museum which quantified the dramatic reduction (>86%) in light exposure that artifacts experienced in cases using VariGuard display panels versus traditional glass display panels."

This Washington Conservation Guild event will be held on November 6th, 2014, starting at 5:00 PM Eastern at the Smithsonian National Postal Museum in Washington, DC, where VariGuard panels have been in use in the "Behind the Badge" exhibition since June 2014.
