Search Company Founder and Industry Veteran Will Offer Tips for How to Leverage Search Data to Improve SEO

The talk, titled "Using Site Search and Navigation for Search Marketing" will take place at 2:00 p.m. PST on Wednesday, February 27, 2008, as part of the SMX Theater on the exhibition floor.

The presentation will include real-world examples of companies that have taken site search and faceted navigation data to improve the effectiveness of their SEO efforts. For example, looking at the frequently used search terms and the corresponding items clicked on can be useful in determining which keywords to optimize for and which items to promote on landing pages to generate higher traffic numbers and increases sales and conversions.

Additionally, Dr. Ryan will discuss elements that should be considered when implementing a site search function, and the important types of information and presentation styles that should be considered for inclusion in landing pages, in order to increase the likelihood of a purchase. Items like suggestions for alternate search terms and the ability to further refine results by brand name, price range or product category are ways to help site visitors more quickly get to the items they seek -- and place them in their online shopping cart.
