SNIA Education Adds New Storage Tutorials to SNW Agenda

More Than 40 Vendor-Neutral Tutorials to Be Delivered at SNW October 2010; 12 New Tutorials Will Address Cloud Storage, File Management and Solid State Storage; New Storage Networking e-Course for IT Sales Professionals Unveiled


DALLAS, TX--(Marketwire - October 11, 2010) -  STORAGE NETWORKING WORLD -- The Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) today announced it has expanded its educational offerings with 12 new Storage Networking World (SNW) October 2010 tutorials and a Storage Networking Sales Professional Training e-Course.

During SNW Fall 2010 in Dallas, Texas, the SNIA will feature more than 40 vendor-neutral tutorials organized into six thematic tracks: Backup/Archiving, Energy Efficient Data Centers, Data Management, Data Security, Convergence and Virtualization. Twelve of the tutorials are new to this year's event and will discuss topics covering Cloud Storage, Data Management, File Management, Networking, Security, Solid State Storage and Virtualization. SNIA manages 100 tutorials overall.

In addition the SNIA has launched a new Storage Networking Sales Professional Training e-Course to enable marketing and sales professionals -- and their respective companies -- to recommend storage solutions to their customers. By offering the fundamental technical background, the e-Course improves the knowledge and skills of these professionals to reduce their sales cycles and deepen their customer relationships by becoming recognized as trusted technical advisors. The material in this course can be used to prepare for the SNIA Qualified Storage Sales Professional (SQSSP) accreditation.

The following concepts are covered in the Storage Networking Sales Professional Training e-course:

  • Defining and identifying storage technology basics
  • Recognizing opportunities for iSCSI and Fibre Channel storage networking solutions
  • Defining storage virtualization and data management concepts and opportunities
  • Recognizing backup/recovery and business continuance opportunities
