So Many New Ways to Get the Information you Need to File Your Taxes!

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Feb. 19, 2016) - Canada Revenue Agency

The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, P.C., M.P., Minister of National Revenue, today announced that, as part of the Government of Canada's commitment to improve services to Canadians, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) has launched a range of new initiatives to help Canadians file their income tax and benefit returns, and access the benefits to which they are entitled.

Easy to understand tax information is now available through several short videos on the CRA's YouTube channel.

They include a new Get Ready video featuring "Mike", who explains how Auto-fill my return, the CRA's new service that automatically fills in portions of a tax return, helps to make tax-filing easier for Canadians. Auto-fill my return can be used by anyone who is registered for the CRA's online service, My Account, and uses compatible certified tax preparation software.

The New to Canada? Learn about taxes video, featuring information for new Canadians, is now available in English, French, Arabic, Cantonese, Spanish, and Punjabi. This video introduces Canada's tax system and highlights the "hows" and "whys" of filing an income tax and benefit return.

Also available in multiple languages are two new "Need a Hand?" videos that help promote the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP). The CVITP offers free clinics to help prepare income tax and benefit returns for eligible individuals who have a modest income and a simple tax situation. The CVITP program can be especially helpful to indigenous people, seniors, newcomers, students, and disabled persons.
