SoCal Small Business Tapping Into SEM for Customer Acquisition

Irvine Chamber, Google and Local SEM Experts Offer Search Engine Marketing Bootcamp

IRVINE, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 28, 2007 -- The majority of people -- both business buyers and consumers -- search online prior to making a purchase, making search engine marketing (SEM) the number one strategy for new customer acquisition today. 70 percent of people who bought their cell phones offline used online research before making their decision. 88 percent of U.S. online users purchased their summer vacations online last year. Findings by PEW Internet and American Life Project indicate that on an average day, nearly 60 million people use a search engine. 2006 was the first year that paid search outperformed other online marketing tactics in click-through and conversion rates, according to a survey conducted by MarketingSherpa.

This seminar focuses on helping small and medium-sized businesses create quick, easy, and cost-effective customer acquisition programs. The seminar will feature an educational keynote and basic overview of highly effective web tools by Google, as well as hands-on workshops delivered by the Google AdWords Training Team and other online marketing professionals. This morning session offers basic information on how to run an online advertising campaign that generates more leads for less money, and attendees have the rare opportunity to learn the basics of AdWords directly from Google's own trainers.

Nikki HM Jackson of Goldranking Website Marketing will help small business owners with tips on how to create a Google-friendly website so that Google will easily find, index, and rank it without accidentally blocking the Googlebot crawler. Sally Falkow, from Expansion Plus, will discuss cutting-edge social media strategies using content syndication, RSS feeds and how to create a business blog.

Google will be selecting two attendees and their respective businesses as training examples on how they might build and optimize AdWords accounts referencing challenges they face or opportunities that they could take advantage of.

Registration for this SEM seminar is available for the morning Keynote and overview Session at $150 (there will be a 400-person cap to this session) and for the afternoon VIP Workshop session at $150 for Irvine Chamber members or $200 for non-members (there is a 50-person cap to this session -- so register early).

Full day registration is offered at $200 for members or $250 for non-members. Attendees will also receive $75 worth of Google AdWords credits to get started with AdWords and experience this effective search engine marketing tool first hand.
