Social Media Breakfast Calgary #70 -- 8:30 am - 10:30 am, Friday, November 20th, 2015 -- Calgary Drop-In & Rehab Centre Society

CALGARY, AB--(Marketwired - November 13, 2015) - Calgary Social Media Breakfast (SMByyc) is pleased to announce November 2015 Topic: Everything We Know About Homelessness Is Not True

We see them, but do we SEE them?

With Calgary's strong dependence on the oil market, we understand the BOOM or BUST economy well. We have heard it. We have thought it. "Please Lord, send another boom, we promise we won't piss it away next time."

As jobs are cut and contacts suspended, many Calgarians are feeling the harshness of this bust. With earnings decreasing, giving decreases.

This month, we will launch two Christmas Campaigns that focus on no and low-income recipients. We invited guest speakers to share the state of poverty in our community.

We invited Louise Gallagher from Calgary Housing Foundation, Adam Melnyk from Alpha House, and Amy Hurst from RESOLVE. They will share insights about homelessness and how the struggle intensifies during a slow economy. We will learn how as an individual, we can help.

Something a little different this month; we are charging a $10 entry fee at this event.

$5 going to Melrose Christmas Campaign
$5 going to Mustard Seed Christmas Campaign

Post SMByyc, the Drop-In Center will offer a tour of the facility.
