About the Guest Speaker:

Mike Best

From the moment I signed up for Facebook in 2006 I knew that this "Social Media" thing would be instrumental in my life, I just didn't know what capacity it would be yet. I originally signed up to Twitter so I would have another place for Google to find our company name. A few short months later, companies were approaching me to manage their social media strategies. Hillside Strategic was born. I'm currently working with various small businesses to provide social media fulfillment services. (Follow Mike on Twitter)

As my interest and experience in social media increased, I came up with the idea of combining treasure hunts with Twitter based contests, leading to the creation of my latest venture Kuwinda. KuwindaYYC is approaching its first anniversary and KuwindaYEG is just getting started. We hold a weekly Treasure/Trivia based game where 'Hunters' can win prizes from local businesses.

About SMBYEG

SMBYEG houses an open environment to share today's best and worst examples of social media, as practiced by individuals, industries and organizations in Edmonton and around the world. Guest speakers share their experience and expertise of social media use, followed by an opportunity to network with a community of like-minded individuals.

The SMB was founded by Bryan Person in August 2007 as an event for social media newbies and experts to come together to eat, meet, share, and learn. The breakfast series began in Boston and has now spread to dozens of cities around the world. The Calgary and Edmonton chapters of the SMB were started by Scott Baird of McQ Design Strategies as a place for social media enthusiasts to discuss effective practices and new techniques.
