Mount Royal University presents a one-day forum and trade show on social media marketing featuring a variety of dynamic speakers from the forefront of this growing phenomenon.

Social Media Shift - Big Ideas for Growing Business will take place on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at Mount Royal's Ross Glen Hall, Roderick Mah Centre for Continuous Learning.

Social media is an increasingly important factor in marketing and communication strategies for growing businesses. It is not simply a new way to do old-fashioned "push" advertising, but rather a means of building relationships and creating engagement with customers.

Highlights of the day will include keynote speaker Scott Stratten. Scott is the owner of UnMarketing and has been doing word of mouth marketing and creating viral videos since well before Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. Scott is the author of UnMarketing: Stop Marketing. Start Engaging, a top-selling 2010 business book. He is a sought-after speaker internationally and has been featured on Mashable.com, CNN.com, the Wall Street Journal and USA Today.

Another featured speaker will be Richard Einarson, the marketing mastermind behind Calgary's game-changing "Purple Revolution" mayoral election.
