Social Media Week Los Angeles to Feature More Than 50 Free, Public Events Across LA From September 19-23

Event Producers Reaching Out to Community to Represent 360-Degree Look at Social Media's Impact on Arts, Entertainment, Business and Lifestyle

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 15, 2011) - The second annual Social Media Week Los Angeles will take place the entire week of September 19-23 at multiple locations across Greater Los Angeles, according to executive producer and city partner SocialRadius.

Globally, Social Media Week is a 12-city experience that has become the world's largest simultaneous distributed conference of any kind. Los Angeles is just one of two US cities taking part of the week-long global effort, which will also include simultaneous week-long events in Beirut, Berlin, Chicago, Glasgow, Milan, Moscow, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paolo and Vancouver.

In Los Angeles, the event will take place at five "content hubs" in Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, Hollywood, downtown LA and a fifth location yet to be determined. There will also be more than 50 events, ranging from keynotes by leading voices in the social media world, to sponsored breakfasts and parties, with all topics focused around more than 25 aspects of social media. Most of the events will be free and open to the public, while a few will be sponsored and free to top thought leaders in their respective communities.

One of the unique aspects of Social Media Week is that in addition to more than 20 events which will be put on by SocialRadius and its advisory board, there is an open call for community-organized events that will be promoted countywide as part of Social Media Week Los Angeles.

Event organizers, venues, speakers and sponsors are invited to get involved in the only local event series of global impact. Positions are still available to participate in the world's largest multi-city conference. Visit for details on how to be included in the opportunities available. "Los Angeles has a unique legacy in social media," said Michael Terpin, CEO of SocialRadius. "From the pioneering efforts of MySpace and Huffington Post to the unique contributions of the entertainment industry to the rapid growth of Twitter and YouTube, LA is well-positioned to become America's capital of social media content and community. We are delighted to engage with our robust community to explore, learn about and spread the word about all aspects of social media for one week in September."

Categories to be covered during the week include social media's impact on the following fields: advertising, automotive, banking, e-commerce, entertainment (film, music, TV), dating, environment, fashion, gaming, government, health, legal, media, mobile, multicultural, parenting, social good and sports. Ongoing schedules will be updated on the SMWLA website as well as on Twitter (@smwla) and Facebook.
