Social Media Week Returns to Vancouver This September

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 11, 2012) - Social Media Week (#smwvan) is once again returning to Vancouver, shining the spotlight on all things social from September 24th-28th. Now in its second year in the city, the event aims open the discussion of what social media can mean when pushed past the basics of likes and followers.

This year's event welcomes ING Direct as the title sponsor, and will be put on in partnership with a range of socially savvy Vancouver organizations, including the BC Chapter of the American Marketing Association ( and SOHO Group (

The week will be once again packed with outstanding events dedicated to exploring the depth and breadth of social media. On September 26th, the BCAMA will be hosting a speaker panel on the topic of Social Media for Business at Killjoy Cocktail Tavern in Yaletown. Then, on the 27th, at the Vancouver Convention Centre West, SOHO and The Financial Post will be presenting FP Reach, a day-long event for marketers featuring panel discussions, exhibitions, and a keynote and Q&A with social media heavyweight Gary Vaynerchuck.

One can't-miss event is the Dragons' Den Social Summit on the 28th. Three local social, mobile or tech entrepreneurs wil be chosen on to pitch CBC Dragons, Jim Treliving and Bruce Croxon, plus three guest Dragons from the BC Business community. The event is the culmination of the Dragon's Den Pitch Contest-entrepreneurs can upload their 3 minute video to before September 18th for their chance to win a pitch spot.
