Societe de Saint-Vincent de Paul: Quebec Celebrities Sing to Help Disadvantaged Children

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(CCNMatthews - Sept. 22, 2005) - Elise Guilbault, the Porn Flakes, Marc Labreche, Anne Dorval, James Hyndman, Daniel Thomas, Remy Girard, Antoine Bertrand and several other artists will lend their voices to the cause of helping disadvantaged children on Monday October 24 at 8 p.m., at Club Soda. Proceeds from this event will benefit Operation Bonne Mine, a Societe de Saint-Vincent de Paul de Montreal program.

"Thanks to this benefit show, over 1,000 children will receive assistance from Operation Bonne Mine," said actress and spokesperson Elise Guilbault. "Children will be able to enjoy a good lunch at school for several weeks. Some will receive a grant to help them fulfill a dream. And others will be able to go to camp next summer.

"Every year, nearly 4,000 children from the Greater Montreal area are helped by Operation Bonne Mine. Unfortunately, that's not enough because the need is so great! That's why these artists are getting together to organize this show, which is going to be very lively," Ms. Guilbault concluded.

Launched in 1994 by the Societe de Saint-Vincent de Paul de Montreal, Operation Bonne Mine is not only aimed at providing financial support to the children of disadvantaged families, but at building self-esteem, developing talent, promoting group integration and reducing the number of school dropouts. The program has three components: education, culture, and sports and recreation. Within the components, assistance is provided for different activities: going back to school, cultural outings, summer camp and grants.

Tickets cost $30 (show only) and $200 (cocktail party, show and $175 tax receipt). Tickets for the show are on sale now on the Ticketpro network ((514) 908-9090 or www.ticketpro.ca). To purchase tickets for the cocktail party and show, please call (514) 526-5937 and ask for the Communications Department. Club Soda is located at 1225, St-Laurent Boulevard, Montreal.

Since 1848, the Societe de Saint-Vincent de Paul de Montreal offers, thanks to its thousands of volunteers, emergency assistance to all persons in difficulty requiring occasional support.
