Societe Duvetnor Ltd. Receives Funding From Government of Canada

SAINT-ANDRÉ, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Aug. 31, 2011) - The Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Transport, Infrastructure and Communities and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, today announced that Société Duvetnor Ltd. has been granted $239,850 in non-repayable funding to improve the tourism services on the islands it owns off the coast of Rivière-du-Loup in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

"The ecotourism activities that Société Duvetnor offers contribute to the development of the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. The Government of Canada is therefore pleased to lend its financial support to this project, which is sure to help promote the growth of ecotourism while increasing the region's ability to draw visitors from here and all over," said Minister Lebel.

The organization's project involves acquiring a motorized barge for the transportation of consumer packaged goods (food and everyday items) to the islands it services, including the Pot à l'Eau-de-Vie islands, as well as installing water and power supply systems and sanitation facilities on these off-shore sites.

Development of the tourism sector is a key priority for Canada Economic Development in the Bas-Saint-Laurent region. This financial assistance has been granted through the Community Diversification program.
