Society of Chest Pain Centers (SCPC) Yale Alum Presents SCPC Accreditation to Yale - New Haven Hospital

Brian Triplett, CEO of SCPC and Yale Alum Presents Accreditation

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwire - January 8, 2010) - The Society of Chest Pain Centers (, an international non-profit focused on improving care for cardiac patients, has announced that Yale - New Haven Hospital has earned the SCPC accreditation in recognition of its ability to quickly determine and intervene when a patient is experiencing cardiac symptoms. The Society's CEO Brian Triplett, a Yale Alum, presented the accreditation on January 6 at the Yale-New Haven Hospital. The accreditation is based on various processes that are designed to identify patients who are experiencing cardiac symptoms and more rapidly get them treatment.

"Chest Pain Center Accreditation for a new healthcare facility is always an important step in helping to reduce deaths as a result of heart attacks. Having the honor of presenting the accreditation to Yale - New Haven Hospital is really an honor," noted Triplett.

Heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the United States, with 600,000 dying annually of heart disease. More than five million Americans visit hospitals each year with chest pain, according to the Society of Chest Pain Centers.

The purpose of a chest pain center is to provide streamlined cardiac care that better determines whether a patient is suffering from a heart attack and can be admitted for further services more quickly, or if that patient is low-risk or simply suffering from chest pain and can be treated and discharged without being admitted.

Triplett earned a Masters of Public Health with a concentration in Hospital Administration from Yale School of Medicine, Department of Epidemiology and Public Health, and a B.S., cum lade with a double major in Business and Healthcare Administration from Alfred University School of Business Administration.
