Society of Payment Security Professionals Announces Payment Security Professional of 2008

PARK CITY, UT--(Marketwire - February 18, 2009) - The Society of Payment Security Professionals is proud to announce Branden Williams as the Payment Security Professional of the Year for 2008. Mr. Williams is the Director of the PCI Practice for VeriSign's Global Security Practice. The award is bestowed upon a Payment Security Professional that personifies the SPSP's code of ethics, demonstrates exceptional knowledge, innovation, and dedication to their profession. Mr. Williams was nominated by his colleagues and selected by the Advisory Board of the SPSP.

"Branden's reputation as a professional, let alone as a payment security professional, makes him the ideal person to win the inaugural Payment Security Professional of the Year award," said Chris Mark, CPISM/A, CISSP, CIPP and founder of the Society of Payment Security Professionals. "He is a fantastic representative of the profession, demonstrating integrity, honesty and ethics in his professional dealings and always seeking to increase his knowledge about the industry. He serves as a fine example to co-workers and colleagues alike."

Mr. Williams' enthusiasm for the Payment Security Profession is apparent, "I enjoy the challenge of solving complex security and compliance issues and helping customers bring their systems into compliance through the design of creative compensating controls or re-engineering the entire payment stream."

A number of criteria must be met in order to be considered for the award. Nominees must be a member in Good Standing of the Society of Payment Security Professionals, must demonstrate professionalism and honesty in all dealings with clients, co-workers, partners and others, and must demonstrate solid understanding of the Payments Industry and its unique security needs. Ideally, the nominee would also exhibit innovation in Payment Security and positively impact security in the Payments Industry in 2008.
