NEWARK, CA--(Marketwire - Jul 2, 2012) -  Socket Mobile, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT), an innovative provider of mobile productivity solutions, has begun shipping the SoMo 655 mobile computer and the SoMo 655Rx, an antimicrobial version for healthcare and hygiene sensitive environments. As previously announced, these durable devices expand upon Socket Mobile's award-winning SoMo 650 line of handheld computers and affirm the company's dedication to the handheld device space by addressing the increasing demands of mobile professionals to efficiently collect, document and access mission-critical business data in a wide range of applications.

"Since we announced the SoMo earlier this year, we've gotten great feedback from our beta testers, including partners in healthcare, hospitality, retail, and other industries," said Vince Coli, senior handheld computer product manager at Socket Mobile. "In addition to the improved user interface of Windows Embedded Handheld 6.5, testers have appreciated the ample 4GB storage, better connectivity with 802.11n Wi-Fi, and general improvements in charging and durability. The new SoMo 655 not only provides enhanced features, but also helps enterprises maximize ROI with a long expected life of five years and professional service and support options."

"A number of our healthcare customers have stressed the importance of working with committed partners," said Tim Miller, chief operating officer at Socket Mobile. "Socket has made a five year commitment of support for the SoMo 655.
