Socket Mobile SoMo™ 650 Wins Product of the Year Award

Portable Computing Magazine Names SoMo 650 Handheld Computer Their Product of the Year for 2008

NEWARK, CA--(Marketwire - March 12, 2008) - Socket Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: SCKT), dba Socket Mobile, Inc., an innovative provider of mobile productivity solutions, today announced that Portable Computing Magazine has named the Socket Mobile SoMo 650 Product of the Year for 2008.

The SoMo 650 was chosen among other handheld devices for unique enterprise capabilities that made it stand out from other business class portable computers on the market. Portable Computing is a niche publication focused on the computing needs of enterprise users. The digital issue reaches more than 85,000 people each month. The SoMo 650 was selected for the award by Portable Computing editor, Monty Fossberg.

The Product of the Year award was created by Portable Computing in 2005 to recognize outstanding achievements in mobile computing within a given year. This year's award featured in the March issue of Portable Computing highlights the SoMo 650's barcode and RFID functionalities as key differentiators for the device.

The winning product, the SoMo 650, was released in July 2007 and is designed specifically for the business mobility market. As business computing needs diversify, many workers require a device that is more portable and cost-effective than an industrial-grade computer, but more suitable for a business environment than a consumer PDA or smartphone.
