Softek CTO to Present on Data Migration Strategies to Achieve Tiered Storage Architectures at Interop Las Vegas 2005 Educational Conference

Nick Tabellion to Discuss How Data Migration to Different Storage Levels Can Achieve Cost Reductions Through More Efficient Use of Storage Assets

VIENNA, VA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 4, 2005 -- Softek™, the leading provider of multi-platform storage management software, today announced that the company's Chief Technology Officer, Nick Tabellion, will deliver a presentation discussing strategies for migrating data to achieve more effective information lifecycle management (ILM) practices through data classification and tiered storage practices at an educational session at the Interop Las Vegas 2005 trade show, to be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas today at 3:30 pm. Tabellion will also participate in a panel discussion about data naming schemes, along with other storage industry executives, beginning at 2:00 pm.

The Data Management and Compliance Conference is an educational conference held in conjunction with Networld+Interop and chaired by Jon Toigo, founder and chairman of the Data Management Institute.

Titled "Characterizing Storage Platforms for Effective ILM" and designed for IT managers at large and medium-sized enterprises, Tabellion's presentation will focus on achieving cost reduction through more efficient uses of their expensive storage infrastructures. It will illustrate how to characterize hosting platforms and migrating data to different tiers of storage from a cost/capacity standpoint.

"Storage architectures are being implemented with multiple tiers, with each level supporting different needs for the organization," said Tabellion. "Our goal with the presentation is to help IT users think more strategically about their storage and how to more effectively match and move their data to more cost-friendly systems that are best suited for their particular applications."

The panel discussion, titled "Naming Data: Practical Approaches to an Intractable Problem," will deliver insight into applying a data naming scheme consistently to all files and data sets so they can be handled and hosted throughout their useful life.
