Software AG Unveils BPM Competency Center for North America

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(CCNMatthews - Mar 27, 2006) -

The Center Will Enable Organizations to Build a Process-Focused Discipline That Leads to Lower Costs, Improved Productivity and Enhanced Customer Satisfaction

Software AG, Inc. today unveiled its BPM Competency Center in North America, which will help organizations understand the value of BPM (Business Process Management) in their unique environment, shape their process management vision, plan and implement BPM projects, and measure the extent to which BPM projects have met their own pre-established business objectives for success. With the assistance of Software AG's BPM Competency Center, organizations will be able to implement a process-focused discipline that leads to lower costs, improved productivity and enhanced customer satisfaction.

The announcement was made at the Gartner Business Process Management Summit 2006.

Software AG's BPM Competency Center combines a dedicated team of experts with best practices for business process improvement projects and a proven methodology to help organizations achieve process excellence. Through analyzing goals and existing processes the team will determine the best opportunities for process improvement, help organizations embrace BPM principles, and plan and execute solutions to meet defined business objectives. Key performance measures are defined, tracked and managed to provide a platform for continuous process improvement and overall process optimization. The following services are offered, which align with the Competency Center's BPM Methodology:

-- BPM Discovery - a two day engagement to understand an organization's business goals, core processes, and business drivers to determine opportunities for process improvement. Discovery results include recommendations and next steps toward embracing BPM principles and applying technology to meet defined business objectives.

-- BPM Assessment - an in-depth evaluation of a specific process improvement project, including definition of as-is and to-be processes, key performance indicators, critical success factors, a solution blueprint and business justification. The goal is to thoroughly define a process and provide a plan for improvement.

-- BPM Planning, Design and Execution - services to plan, design and execute the BPM solution blueprint that focus on quick "wins" followed by iterative enhancements that enable continuous process improvement. An emphasis is placed on delivering solutions that allow business users to own the process, thereby reducing reliance on IT resources.

-- BPM Achievement Report - a report detailing progress against critical success factors and key performance indicators, including recommendations for next steps to optimize the process and keep pace with market dynamics.

"Working with Software AG we are implementing business process management methods and technologies that will help us to reduce costs and improve student and faculty services," said Ron Rash, senior director of administrative services for The Pennsylvania State University.

Today's launch of Software AG's BPM Competency Center follows the announcement in 2005 of Software AG's Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) Competency Center. "Our customers turn to us for education, experience, expertise and enablement," said Martin Steinhobel, vice president of technical services for Software AG North America. "We have embodied these elements in our BPM and SOA Competency Centers to prepare our customers to take a results-oriented approach to unite their people and infrastructure, and thereby realize the benefits of process-driven integration."
