Software AG Unveils SOA Competency Center For North America

The Center Will Enable Organizations To Gain Greater Long-Term Value From Their SOA projects, And Reduce Time And Cost In Implementation

Software AG, Inc. today unveiled its SOA Competency Center (SOACC) in North America, which will help organizations understand the value of SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) in their unique environment, shape their SOA vision, plan and implement their SOA, and measure the extent to which an SOA project has met their own pre-established business objectives for success. By using the services and expertise available from Software AG's SOACC, businesses will be able to reduce the cost and time needed to implement SOA, and will be positioned to gain greater long-term value from SOA.

Software AG's SOA Competency Center combines a proven Methodology with SOA Best Practices that result from decades of large-scale project implementation for major customers - continually refined through a joint knowledge base. Key elements of the SOACC include:

-- SOA Discovery - a 2-day engagement designed to provide a brief analysis of an organization's business goals and systems to help determine if the SOA approach is "a good fit." The SOA Discovery will also provide insights on SOA and its relevance to a company's current and future business and IT initiatives.

-- SOA Readiness Assessment - an in-depth evaluation of how SOA can solve specific business challenges within the context of an organization's objectives and IT infrastructure. This element assists the customer in identifying a specific project and defining critical success factors and key performance indices.

-- SOA Planning & Design Services - services to assist customers in planning and designing their SOA implementations, while following a disciplined SOA design approach.

-- SOA QuickLaunch - tested design patterns, blue prints and best practices that can be fitted into place during the implementation phase of the SOA project, bringing the SOA principle of reuse to bear on the project itself in order to save time and cost.

-- SOA Achievement Report - a record of how an SOA implementation performs when measured against the success criteria established by the customer during the initial Readiness Assessment. The explicit measurement step that results in the SOA Achievement Report is unique within the industry

-- SOA Maturity Assessment - for organizations with an existing SOA implementation that is viewed successful, this SOACC element helps bring the benefits of SOA to the rest of the organization by reviewing SOA achievements, identifying opportunities for improvement, and assisting in the creation of a plan to extend SOA value.
