Solarflare® Communications Joins the VMware® Technology Alliance Partner Program and Solarstorm® Products Achieve VMware Ready Status

Leading 10 Gigabit Ethernet Company's Products Are Certified for Virtualized Environments

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - October 6, 2009) - Solarflare Communications, the leader in standards-based 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) silicon, today announced it has joined the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program and that its Solarflare Solarstorm controllers have achieved VMware Ready status. The program helps technology vendors integrate their products with VMware virtualization software and delivers timely, joint solutions to mutual customers.

The VMware Ready designation indicates that the Solarstorm controllers have passed a detailed evaluation and testing process managed by VMware and are now listed on the VMware Hardware Compatibility Guide. Passing the extensive VMware-specified testing helps ensure that Solarflare Solarstorm controllers make best use of VMware technology and are ready for deployment in customer environments.

"We are excited to welcome Solarflare as the newest member of the VMware TAP program. We are also pleased that the Solarstorm controllers qualify for the VMware Ready logo, signifying to customers that they have passed specific VMware testing and interoperability criteria and are certified to run with the VMware product line," said Bernie Mills, senior director, alliance programs, VMware.

"Having an alliance with VMware is important to us, as it helps solidify our commitment to providing high-performance, low-latency 10 Gigabit solutions that excel in virtualized environments," said Bruce Tolley, vice president of corporate marketing at Solarflare. "The VMware TAP and VMware Ready program offer companies like ours the tools and resources needed to develop high-value solutions that meet the needs of mutual customers."

With more than 1,200 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program provides technology partners with a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers. The VMware Ready program is a VMware co-branding program for qualified partner products and is a benefit of the VMware TAP program.

Optimized for virtualized environments, the Solarstorm dual port 10 Gigabit Ethernet controller consumes less than 2.5 watts at full line-rate performance. Solarflare is currently sampling to OEM customers a complete family of controller products, including the industry's first integrated single- and dual-port 10GBASE-T LAN on motherboard (LOM) products.
