Solectek Introduces 4.9 GHz and 5.8 GHz Point-to-Multipoint Radios With Videocast Surveillance Feature; Announces Free Webinar December 11th

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - December 5, 2007) - Solectek Corporation, a manufacturer of broadband wireless equipment, announced the addition of two point-to-multipoint wireless systems, the 4000 and 7000 Professional Series. In addition to handling data communications efficiently, the radios have a new SkyWay-Videocast™ feature that provides the capability to efficiently broadcast video, which is essential for video security applications. The 4000 and 7000 Professional Series are ideal for homeland security applications, airports, campus building settings, military theater deployment and municipal surveillance. SkyWay-Videocast provides many advantages over competing wireless surveillance platforms, including the ability for multiple people/sites to efficiently view the same security video simultaneously without slowing down the network.

"Our goal with the 4000 and 7000 Professional Series is to provide the market with affordable, high performance 4.9 and 5.8 GHz platforms for both data and video surveillance applications," said Dr. Eric Lee, CEO for Solectek. "Many competing multipoint wireless networks that carry video traffic can incur performance degradation when client radios send multicast traffic. When multiple clients or multiple cameras generating multicast traffic are present, the overhead becomes significant and degrades video performance. The 4000 and 7000 Performance Series are designed to overcome these challenges."

Solectek's SkyWay-Videocast feature significantly reduces overhead on the network and improves performance for video traffic. This is achieved primarily by changing the base station replication behavior.

"When enabled, the SkyWay-Videocast feature forwards multicast traffic across the internal bridge without replicating and transmitting the traffic back into the wireless portion of the network. This provides more efficient bandwidth usage and greater client/video camera densities than previously possible."

Solectek is shipping the 4000 and 7000 Professional Series now, and the products are backward compatible with previous models in the family. On Tuesday, December 11, Solectek is hosting a free webinar "Growing your Business with Fixed Broadband Wireless." Registration is available at or
