EAGLE ROCK, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 16, 2013) - Solheim Lutheran Home announced today that it will be celebrating its 90th Anniversary throughout 2013 with several special events for the general public as well as residents, friends and family of the Eagle Rock retirement community.
Beginning in April, the acclaimed Los Angeles retirement community will be offering free tours of its Eagle Rock campus throughout the rest of the year. "We're thrilled to open our doors to the community and all our friends in the Los Angeles area and across the country as we celebrate this landmark occasion in our history," said Audrey Bahr, Chairman of the Board at Solheim Lutheran Home. To schedule a tour time, please contact Tina Antypas, Director of Development at 323 257-7518 or email email@example.com
Beginning in July (90 days from the celebration date), Solheim will start a $90,000 in 90 Days fundraising campaign to lead up to their 90th Anniversary Community Appreciation Celebration on November 2, 2013. The Celebration is scheduled to coincide near Solheim's founding date of November 11, 1923. "We hope to capitalize on this incredible milestone with a special fundraising campaign to highlight how far we've come and keep the momentum going for the next decade as we approach the century mark," said Solheim Executive Director, Jim Graunke.
Adolph Larson founded Solheim Lutheran Home on November 11, 1923 as a "cozy Christian Home for worthy-aged Norwegians." Back then, fifteen dedicated men committed themselves to establish and maintain a home for older persons of Norwegian birth or descent and other aged persons. Solheim started as a 12-room cottage purchased by Adolph Larson and the Norwegian Lutheran Society for the Aged. Solheim means "sun home," in Norwegian -- and the staff there prides itself on providing a bright, cheerful atmosphere for the senior residents.
All these years later, Solheim stands as a thriving tribute to one man's vision and faith. Since its humble beginnings in 1923, Solheim has grown into a two and one-half acre community that is home to more than 200 residents with more than 150 employees offering four levels of care: residential, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. Solheim's original community of "Aged Norwegian" Lutherans has expanded to include the very diverse, multi-cultural patchwork quilt of people of all beliefs that now reside in its community today. Solheim is known for its exceptional care with almost a one-to-one staff-to-resident ratio and charitable care for residents who outlive their financial assets.
For their 90th Anniversary, Solheim slightly revised its mission and vision statement. Their new mission statement, to provide abundant living for older adults in a caring, faith-based community filled with love, peace, dignity and security, pays tribute to their history while adapting to the changing times and the expanding demographic of old persons of whom they serve. Today's Solheim is an independent, premiere faith-based care provider, holistic in its health and wellness philosophy. Solheim's new vision is to preserve and build upon the highest standard of care while adapting to, and flourishing in, a dynamic environment.
Solheim Lutheran Home is a leading retirement community in Eagle Rock providing quality retirement living since 1923. Solheim is a loving faith-based community that provides all levels of care -- Residential Living, Assisted Living, Memory Care and Skilled Nursing -- to older adults of all faiths or none. Solheim is known for its exceptional care with almost a one-to-one staff-to-resident ratio and charitable care for residents who outlive their financial assets.
