Solomons Veterinary Clinic Promotes Responsible Pet Ownership With Adoption Program

SOLOMONS, MD--(Marketwire - Oct 4, 2011) - Solomons Veterinary Medical Center announced a special pet adoption program. The vet clinic's adoption program is designed to match dogs and cats from local shelters and rescue programs with loving homes. In addition to supporting responsible pet ownership through adoption, the animal hospital is also an active supporter of the Calvert Animal Welfare League. The clinic's veterinarians also volunteer time with other animal rescue groups and local shelters, including a feral feline group. The vet clinic serves the St. Marys and Lusby communities, providing routine wellness care, dental care and emergency care.

Dr. Nancy E. Ball, a veterinarian and owner of Solomons Veterinary Medical Center, announced that the animal clinic has a special pet adoption program. The clinic's adoption program is designed to match dogs and cats from local shelters and rescue programs with loving homes in St. Marys and Lusby.

"We strongly believe that every pet deserves a loving home," said Dr. Ball. "We want to connect prospective pet owners with animals in need of adoption. Our adoption program is a wonderful way to promote responsible pet ownership within our community."

The program works by connecting prospective pet owners with healthy shelter and rescue animals that are in need of a permanent home. In addition to the pet adoption program, the animal clinic also helps educate new pet owners about basic, at-home wellness care. Dr. Ball, along with veterinarians Dr. Jodi Edwards and Dr. Jill Ausenbaugh, work closely with adoptive pet owners to promote animal welfare.

"Compassionate care and animal welfare are at the heart of everything that we do," said Dr. Ball. "We are committed to educating pet owners about the humane treatment of pets and the basics of wellness care. This helps new pet owners provide a loving home for their pets, and it reduces the chance that owners will give up a pet if it becomes unruly or unmanageable."

In addition to the Solomons vet clinic adoption program, the veterinary clinic staff also donates time to groups that treat and care for feral cats. The veterinary hospital is an active supporter of the Calvert Animal Welfare League. The staff also volunteers at local animal shelters and foster groups, including P.A.W.S., a non-profit, foster animal group.

Solomons Veterinary Medical Center is a full-service animal hospital, providing wellness care, spay and neuter operations, vaccinations, dental care, surgical care and emergency care for dogs and cats. Select veterinarians at the veterinary clinic also provide care for rabbits and pocket pets.
