Somatic Systems, Inc. Announces Fifth Class to Start the Somatic Systems Institute Professional Training Program

NORTHAMPTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- September 11, 2006 -- Somatic Systems, Inc. (PINKSHEETS: SMAS) is pleased to announce that the Class of 2008 from Somatic Systems Institute Clinical Somatic Education™ Professional Training Program will begin their first semester on October 7th. As part of the new, more flexible modular scheduling format, the semester's first module will run through October 15th, 2006; the second module will meet from January 13-21, 2006. The second and third semesters will follow similar schedules in August and October of 2007 and 2008, respectively. This new class will be the fifth such to participate in the Company's Somatics training program.

Somatic Systems Institute's Clinical Somatic Education Professional Training Program™ is conducted in three semesters. The first semester is 120 hours in length, over 2 nine-day weeks; the second and third semesters are 90 hours each, and follow a similar schedule. The three-semester course consists of 300 hours of supervised in-class education, and class sizes are limited to 40 students to maintain an intimate student to teacher ratio, ranging from 10:1 to 4:1.

The first semester concentrates on the somatic functional problems of the trunk and vertebral column including lectures on kinesiology and the phenomenon of sensory-motor amnesia. The second semester focuses on somatic functional problems of the shoulder joints, arms, and of the hip joints and legs, as well as the role of neurophysiology in chronic pain and muscle tension. The third semester is devoted to expanding the clinical skills of the students, including dealing with advanced disorders, and deepening their understanding of neurophysiology. In addition to the program's 300 hours of supervised in-class education, students benefit from extensive interim professional support and fieldwork.
