Some Competition to Shake Things Up - Introducing Hitachi's New Cordless Gas Nailer, the NR90GC

NORCROSS, Ga.--(CCNMatthews - Nov 17, 2005) -

Hitachi Power Tools (NYSE: HIT) today announced a new player in the Gas Nailer market, the NR90GC. This 3-1/2" gas powered clipped head framing nailer combines cordless utility with traditional framing nailer power. Impressively well-balanced and lightweight, the NR90GC offers a cordless alternative to pneumatic tools and provides a new, highly competitive choice for the market.

Engineered with Hitachi's well-known precision and attention to detail, the NR90GC Gas Nailer delivers a tool as easy on you as it is to operate. No heavy compressor that requires a power source, no hoses to wind and untangle saves time. The power is generated from an interchangeable 7.2V (1.4 Ah) NiCd battery and fuel rod. The battery recharges in only 1 hour, which is half the time required of the leading competition. The NR90GC drives up to 2 nails per second and 1000 nails per hour. The battery will fire over 4,000 nails per charge and each fuel rod fires 1,200 nails. A 6-nail lockout feature prevents accidental "dry fire" assuring nails are lodging securely and work is completed as intended.

Hitachi's NR90GC fires up to a 3-1/2" x .131 clipped head nail (the competition falls off at 3-1/4" nail range) to offer maximum flexibility and versatility on the job. A 2-step nail loading procedure saves time and energy. The adjustable depth of drive nose piece assures proper nail down with varying materials. A low battery indicator light is conveniently located on top of the magazine. The fuel rod compartment door was designed with a double lock to assure the fuel rod is seated firmly and the door will not pop open and interrupt operation. A collapsible rafter hook located at the rear side of the magazine can be used to hang the tool on a rafter when both hands are needed.

The Hitachi NR90GC comes with a 7.2V (1.4Ah) battery, 1-hour charger and carrying case. Early next year, the full round head version, the NR90GR will be available. These gas nailers are ideal for framing, subflooring, fencing, sheathing, decking, truss build-up, modular housing construction, remodeling and punch out work.
