Sony Ericsson Continues Its Popular Facebook Competitions with New Photograph Contest

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Dec. 3, 2010) - Sony Ericsson is set to continue offering its Facebook fans the chance to win mobile phones through competitions and has introduced a new avatar creation application alongside its latest photograph based Facebook contest, Mini Magic.

The competitions that Sony Ericsson regularly host on the official Sony Ericsson Facebook page are a big hit with fans. Competitions have ranged from giving fans the chance to win one of the latest Sony Ericsson handsets through a weekly trivia question, through to being able to win tickets to the recent FIFA World Cup in South Africa. Given how popular these competitions have proven to be, Sony Ericsson has decided to continue this trend with a new competition and fun avatar maker application.

Sony Ericsson launched the Mini Magic application to the official Facebook page on November 26. Through the application, users can upload photos of miniature things, which other users can then vote for; in just a few days 345 entries were received. The top twenty images with the most votes are then entered into the final, when Sony Ericsson will decide upon five winners and five runners-up, who will each win an Xperia™ X10 mini or mini pro. The competition ends on January 17, 2011.

Alongside the competition is the miniature makeover application. This allows users to make their own mini avatar, where they can customise the appearance, clothing and background, to make the avatar look like themselves or one of their friends. Once created, the avatar is then uploaded to the user's profile where it can be tagged and shared.

Ben Padley, Head of Digital and CRM for Sony Ericsson, said: "Our weekly competitions and other giveaway campaigns have always been extremely popular so we wanted to continue the trend of giving Facebook users the chance to win a new phone, this time by entering photos of all things mini. We also wanted to reward our fans with a fun activity so users can also get creative by making their own miniature Facebook avatar, which they can then use as a unique Facebook profile picture."

The Mini Magic photo contest and avatar application is now available on the Official Global Sony Ericsson Facebook page. For more information visit or
