Sophos Appoints Matt Fairbanks CMO

McAfee Executive to Lead Worldwide Marketing for Complete Security Leader


BOSTON, MA and OXFORD, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Sep 11, 2012) - Sophos today announced that Matt Fairbanks will become the company's new chief marketing officer, responsible for all worldwide marketing efforts. Fairbanks will be based in the company's North America headquarters and will report to Sophos CEO Kris Hagerman.

With nearly twenty years of senior product and marketing experience at global IT security companies, Fairbanks will lead Sophos' global marketing strategy. Most recently, he served as senior vice president of product and solution marketing at McAfee, leading go-to-market activities for the company's entire range of business security solutions.

Prior to McAfee, he served as vice president of product marketing at Citrix, with responsibility for their Xen virtualization and application delivery product lines. He also held senior marketing and product management roles at Symantec, Veritas and Seagate. As senior director of product marketing at Symantec, he defined marketing strategies for a $2.0 billion software product family and led product marketing and campaign marketing for the entire Veritas software portfolio. At Veritas, he served as senior director of product marketing, where he defined and executed product marketing initiatives for a $1.0 billion software product family.
