Sophos Strengthens Management Team With New Senior VP of Human Resources and VP of Engineering


OXFORD, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Oct 7, 2014) - Sophos today announced the appointment of two industry veterans to its senior management team: Edie Givens as senior vice president of human resources and Wolfgang Hilpert as vice president of engineering of the Sophos Network Security Group (NSG). With these appointments, Sophos adds depth and breadth of experience to its global HR and engineering groups. Both Givens and Hilpert have decades of experience in the technology sector and will be key players as Sophos advances to become a disruptive leader in the security industry and continues to deliver strong growth as a company.

Edie Givens has worked in a variety of high-growth technology organizations, and her areas of expertise include organizational design, talent development, M&A integration, and building strong corporate cultures and highly performing teams. Her prior corporate experience includes vice president of human resources for a number of groups within Yahoo, including the product and technology organization, numbering 6,000 employees. She also led human resources for Adobe's business units, core technologies and emerging markets, a 3,500 person organization. Edie graduated from UCLA with a BA in Psychology.

Hilpert joins Sophos having held senior engineering leadership positions at SAP, Microsoft, Nemetschek AG and IBM. He holds the German equivalent of a Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and Business Administration with a strong focus in Information Systems and Data Processing.
