Sosh Curates the Good Life

Sosh iPhone App Makes it Dead Simple to Discover Can't-Miss Local Experiences

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Mar 6, 2012) - Sosh (www.sosh.com), the San Francisco-based startup that launched last summer, makes it easy to discover the city's most unique and memorable experiences. Sosh uses technology and a team of local curators to give personalized recommendations to its members. Today, it debuts its free iPhone app, available on the App Store and here: http://sosh.com/app/.

"People come to a city like SF because it's full of interesting people, cultural events, standout restaurants and more. But it's a lot of work to keep up with it all," said Rishi Mandal, co-founder and CEO of Sosh. "We're social creatures, but we're also busy. So people end up doing the same things over and over - they go to the movies, the same nearby restaurants, etc."

Sosh is designed to solve that problem. Behind the scenes, Sosh's technology -- built by several ex-Google and Slide engineers -- does the heavy lifting, consulting hundreds of sources every day to figure out what's new, what's hot and what's worth checking out. Then a team of curators applies expert insight to ensure that Sosh always highlights worthwhile activities to its members, based on their preferences.

"Just like that, your social life becomes both easier and more exciting," continued Mandal. "We're thrilled about the iPhone app because it amplifies the power of Sosh, since so many people are making these decisions on the go."

Sosh members can bookmark experiences that interest them. With the new iPhone app, bookmarks and recommendations are always on hand, so at any moment, members can decide to try that hot, new ice cream parlor in Cole Valley, or request a password for an undercover Sosh-hosted event.

"We've hosted a few secret speakeasy events throughout SF this year to get to know the Sosh community. Each time, we make a few hundred spots available, but have thousands of people trying to sign up," Mandal said. "It's clear that people want what we're building. And now that we've made it possible to discover fun experiences while on the go, we expect Sosh to become even more popular."

Sosh is still perfecting its San Francisco offering, and plans to expand to additional cities in the near future.
