SourceClear Names Jim Morrisroe as President

Former Piston Cloud CEO and VMware VP/GM to Spearhead SourceClear's Worldwide Sales, Marketing and Business Development Initiatives, Joins Its Board of Directors

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 6, 2016) - SourceClear, the security company for software developers, today announced the appointment of 20-year technology industry veteran Jim Morrisroe as SourceClear's President. Morrisroe, who arrives at SourceClear on the heels of the company securing a $10 million Series A funding round, will lead SourceClear's global sales, marketing and business development organizations and join the SourceClear Board of Directors. He will report to Founder and CEO Mark Curphey.

Morrisroe most recently served as CEO of Piston Cloud Computing, where he guided the OpenStack software pioneer through its rapid growth and successful acquisition by Cisco in June. Prior to Piston, Morrisroe was Vice President and General Manager of Zimbra, where he led the open-source messaging company during its successful spin-out from Yahoo and acquisition/integration by VMware. Previously, Morrisroe held management positions at leading technology companies, including IBM and Lucent.

"Jim is a proven leader with a stellar track record of creating and executing highly successful go-to-market strategies and driving corporate growth," said Curphey. "We are thrilled that he has joined SourceClear and look forward to him guiding the company through its next phase of tremendous expansion."

"Security solutions are only as effective as their source code. And with 90 percent of the world's codebase leveraging third-party libraries and frameworks, it's imperative that developers know the origin of their code, if it's exposed to any vulnerabilities, and how to remediate those security issues," said Morrisroe. "I'm excited to lead a talented, passionate team dedicated to helping build software more safely for and becoming a 'trusted advisor' to our partners and customers."

Designed to integrate seamlessly into existing development processes, SourceClear detects threats and vulnerabilities in open-source frameworks and libraries throughout the entire software supply chain. Unlike other approaches, SourceClear works inside a developer's workflow and with a team's existing tool-chain, enabling real-time visibility into third-party code risk. Architected on a data-science and machine learning platform, SourceClear identifies open-source security issues at scale and speed, uncovering threats not yet publicly disclosed.
