Sourcefire Named to DoD Unified Capabilities Approved Products List

Certification Demonstrates Company's Commitment to Meeting Government Standards and Streamlining Procurement Across DoD Infrastructure

COLUMBIA, MD--(Marketwire - Aug 13, 2012) - Sourcefire, Inc. (NASDAQ: FIRE), a leader in intelligent cybersecurity solutions, today announced that its Next-Generation Intrusion Prevention Systems (NGIPS) have been named to the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capability Approved Products List (UC APL).

The UC APL purpose is to maintain a single consolidated list of products that have completed Interoperability (IO) and Information Assurance (IA) certification. Use of the DoD UC APL allows DoD Components to purchase and operate UC systems over all DoD network infrastructures. Inclusion of the Sourcefire NGIPS on the UC APL enables DoD customers to deploy the solution with even greater confidence and ease.

"Sourcefire remains committed to meeting the DoD's standards for information assurance and interoperability and we are pleased to add UC APL to our list of widely-recognized government certifications," said Tom McDonough, President and COO of Sourcefire. "In this era of hactivism, espionage and nation-state aggression, it's critical that government agencies have defenses in place they know they can trust. There is no better way to demonstrate security effectiveness and performance than with rigorous third-party testing and validation."

The Sourcefire NGIPS is a fully certified enterprise-class network security platform that enables Information Superiority through visibility and control of even the most malicious attacks. Government agencies can adapt defenses in real-time to protect against a new level of stealthy and complex attacks. Based on open source Snort®, the world's most widely deployed intrusion detection and prevention technology, the solution is distinguished by the ability to create new rules, modify existing ones and leverage third-party rules including those created by the Sourcefire VRT® (Vulnerability Research Team). Sourcefire's open architecture streamlines integration with complementary technologies to further address evolving security requirements.
