SourceMedia Announces New American Banker Media Platform

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Jul 18, 2011) - SourceMedia announced it will launch the new American Banker media platform on July 18th. The foundation of the media platform is a trio of elegantly designed state of the art media experiences for Web, print and tablet subscribers. These initiatives, supported by exhaustive market research, will solidify American Banker's position as the leading financial services brand, making it the most-accessed and trusted media resource in the marketplace for online, print, mobile, tablet and event solutions.

The New Web Experience
American Banker is the premier media brand for banking industry professionals and the cornerstone of SourceMedia's commercial banking strategy. The new American Banker web site will focus on creating immersive user experiences by combining world-class content, rich media, new bank-management reports and an expanded suite of tools. The new web site incorporates all of SourceMedia's banking content and brands, including American Banker Magazine (formerly U.S. Banker) and Bank Technology News, to give users the maximum coverage of the full breadth of the commercial banking and financial services ecosystem.

In addition to a unique feed of breaking news, American Banker editors, journalists and commentators will focus on providing insight, context and opinion on the industry's pressing issues, as well as actively engaging users in an on-going digital dialogue. Utilizing subscriber communities, as well as social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn, American Banker editors will deliver the most in-depth coverage of critical issues facing financial services executives.

The new website was developed in partnership with Berkeley, Calif.-based Decision Counsel, a digital strategy and marketing firm that specializes in accelerating online product development for media companies.

Embracing New Media Platforms
On August 1st American Banker will release applications for both the iPad and Android-based tablets. Combining the best of the American Banker print, online and mobile experiences, the applications will deliver rich navigation, elegant content presentation and robust performance in a user-customized environment. The applications were developed in partnership with New York City-based ScrollMotion, the technology provider behind Esquire magazine's iPad app and ESPN's iPhone app.

"In developing the new American Banker media platform, we have truly taken a best-in-class approach, drawing on the industry's top developers and designers while also tapping the talents of our own best and brightest," said David Longobardi, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer for SourceMedia. "It's a privilege to bring such resources to bear on a brand with the history, reputation and audience of American Banker."

A New, More Relevant Print Experience
To compliment the new American Banker digital suite, SourceMedia has redesigned its print products, updating them for today's audience and strengthening their ties with the product suite's digital components. U.S. Banker will be rebranded as American Banker Magazine and will focus on providing readers with in-depth feature coverage, more presentation of industry peers and a deep dive into financial metrics. In addition, American Banker Magazine will take on a cleaner look and crisper design to suit its executive audience. Bank Technology News, the industry's primary source for technology insight, will also be revamped, increasing its focus on financial institution case studies, while continuing to provide intelligence, information and insight into the strategic relationship between technology and banking companies' business objectives. The daily print edition of American Banker -- recently called "the banker's bible" by a New York Times business columnist -- rounds out the platform's family of print products, as one of the most comprehensive and respected in any industry.

A Comprehensive Approach to Audience Engagement
SourceMedia has architected the American Banker Media Platform to evolve as new media landscapes continue to emerge. No other media partner provides marketers with the range of choice, quality of audience and world class content that the American Banker Media Platform does.

"The redesigned banking properties will provide our advertisers with a stronger set of marketing opportunities," said Cynthia Ramsey, VP Group Publisher. "Whether an advertiser wants targeted reach or market-wide exposure, our influential audience will provide a marketing solution that delivers measurable results."

SourceMedia's American Banker Media Platform is evolving to align with the company's overall digital strategy. While there continues to be a strong demand for subscription-based information and services, SourceMedia's brands will continue to migrate toward digital platforms as a primary source for information, data gathering and marketing. As SourceMedia's flagship brands, the new Banking Group will provide a stable platform to support future growth and stabilize core revenue streams in the years to come.
