South Beach Hotel Presents Santlov for Its Artist in Residence Program

SOUTH BEACH, FL--(Marketwired - Nov 24, 2014) - Nestled in Miami's Art Deco District near Collins Park, Think Hotel Group's South Beach Hotel promises art and culture lovers more than just proximity to South Beach's cultural center. The luxury boutique hotel is less than five minutes away from renowned cultural attractions like the CANDO Arts Co-Op, the Bass Museum of Art, as well as the Miami Design and Preservation League, and has become a work of art in itself. With its Art Deco designs that date back to the 1930s, wood furniture carved by Guatemalan artisans, and original terrazzo flooring, South Beach Hotel has chosen Miami-based artist Santlov as its inaugural Artist in Residence.

Santlov, also known as Santino Sverdlov, is a local photographer and graphic designer who became a social media sensation through his 2012 ToysRLikeUs series, depicting famous pop culture characters in everyday situations. Conceived as a parody to point out the absurdity of modern individuals' trends and behaviors, he picked figurines he himself enjoyed playing with while growing up. The Instagram series highlights people's growing dependence on technology: One image shows Toy Story's Woody taking a picture of his sushi roll platter, while another depicts The Joker lazing on a couch, listening to music on his smartphone. These photographs and other works of Santlov are now featured throughout South Beach Hotel, starting from the spacious modern rooms to the beautifully decorated lobby. Art enthusiasts are welcome to stay at the recently renovated hotel and tours can also be arranged to view the edgy collection.

To further establish its reputation within the artistic district, South Beach Hotel regularly hosts cultural events enjoyed by both residents and visitors of Collins Park. The first event of this sort was held at the boutique hotel shortly after the reopening in June 2014, when the Think Hotel Group's Courtyard Art and Cinema Series was launched to celebrate Miami Film Month, featuring the screenings of independent films within the lush, green lawns of the hotel. Throughout the event, visitors were invited to stop and admire the local art on display.

Offering visitors of Collins Park a great deal through its artistic ambiance, delicious food prepared by Orange Blossom, and comfortable rooms, South Beach Hotel has become a prominent hotspot in Miami Beach. In addition to neighboring top art and culture attractions, the hotel is surrounded by top restaurants, shopping and nightlife that keep locals and visitors entertained. With a hip vibe and unparalleled glamour felt throughout the hotel, South Beach is the perfect place to think less and play more. To learn more about the hotel, visit
