South Bend Dental Office Invests in New Dental Equipment

SOUTH BEND, IN--(Marketwired - April 29, 2016) - A South Bend dental office has invested in new dental equipment and technology that will aid in better diagnosing patient dental treatments.

Tulip Tree Dental Care, operated by Dr. Nicole Hurcomb, will replace the X-ray heads throughout the office and add three new dental chairs in the doctor's examination rooms. The changes will benefit patients and give them instant access to digital X-rays, and the patients will not have to switch rooms to see Dr. Hurcomb.

"We are excited to add the new equipment because it means we can handle any dental procedure in any room," Dr. Hurcomb said. "We want our patients to be comfortable while we work, and we believe this equipment will help us give our patients an even more positive experience at the dentist."

The South Bend dental office plans to make the changes in May. The new dental chairs, made by dental equipment company A-dec Inc., are designed for optimal patient comfort and to give the dentist and dental hygienist easy access to the patient's mouth.

Dr. Hurcomb said the current doctor's chairs will be relocated to the hygiene rooms once the new A-dec chairs are installed. She said the change is ideal for patients who need immediate dental treatment.

"Patients don't have to move from room to room to get the treatments they need," Dr. Hurcomb said. "This change will better serve our patients and even streamline their dental visits."

Tulip Tree Dental Care is a family-friendly dental office that offers treatments in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry and short-term orthodontic solutions. Dr. Hurcomb has received additional training in restoring dental implants and offers Invisalign, which uses clear aligners to gradually move teeth into a more appropriate position.

Tulip Tree Dental Care can also straighten teeth without braces using Ortho-Tain®, a removable oral appliance for children. The appliance, which looks similar to a mouthguard, helps guide the permanent teeth into place as they erupt and aligns the jaw in a more appropriate position. Dr. Hurcomb uses Ortho-Tain for children as early as 3, and in many cases, the children can forego expensive orthodontic treatment later in life. Studies also show that Ortho-Tain can improve children's breathing habits, help children sleep through the night and reduce bedwetting. Dr. Hurcomb was born and raised in Crown Point and is a third-generation dentist. She started working in her father's dental office when she was 13 years old, learning about dentistry and how to manage a dental practice. She attended Indiana University Bloomington for her undergraduate studies and then earned her dental degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry. She worked at her father's dental practice for one year before moving to South Bend, Ind., in 2008. She purchased Tulip Tree Dental Care in 2014.

Dr. Hurcomb completes several hours in continuing education courses every year and has taken Bell Leadership courses. She has training in laser dentistry and is a certified provider of Ortho-Tain and Invisalign.
