South River Technologies Adds Google Docs Support to WebDrive: Enables Editing of Google Docs From Any Device

Innovative File Transfer Client Allows Editing of Google Docs Without the Need to Install Additional Apps

ANNAPOLIS, MD--(Marketwired - Oct 14, 2014) -  South River Technologies, Inc. (SRT), an innovator in secure file transfer, has extended its WebDrive product to support in-place editing of Google Docs, so all WebDrive users can update their Google Docs from any device.

WebDrive is the easy-to-use file transfer client that maps network drives to corporate FTP Servers, Amazon S3 and popular cloud services. Users simply open, access, edit and save remote files as if they were on their desktop, with supported cloud storage serves simply saved in the convenience and familiarity of a drive letter. WebDrive has five million seats installed worldwide including customers such as the Boston College, Bloomberg, Intercontinental Hotel Group, Sirius XM Radio and the USDA Forest Service. It is available for PCs as well as iOS and Android devices.

Previously, Google Docs users were unable to edit documents from within their Google Drive application and would be forced to download a variety of editing applications. In order to edit spreadsheets, for example, users had to download and install the Google Sheets app. WebDrive's new development completely changes this, allowing Google Docs to be edited natively from any of WebDrive's platforms without having to install any extra software.

"WebDrive is the only client that can give users unified access to all their silos of cloud storage, both personal and business, from any platform," says Michael Ryan, CEO of South River Technologies. "The convenience of editing without the need to install specific editing tools is a significant product enhancement."

This new addition is particularly advantageous for anyone who has limited hard drive space. Not only is there no requirement to use tools for each cloud service, but all files do not have to be synced to the local hard drive. Users may choose to sync only select files, or not to sync any files.

WebDrive is available for Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android. For more information, please visit http://www.webdrive.com/products/webdrive/
