Southern Hemisphere on Track to Deliver Maiden JORC Resource for Llahuin Porphyry Copper Project in Q1 2012 Following Further Strong Drilling Results

Scoping Study Planned to Commence Early Next Year

PERTH, WESTERN AUSTRALIA--(Marketwire - Dec. 2, 2011) - Southern Hemisphere Mining Limited ("Southern Hemisphere" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:SH)(ASX:SUH)

Further excellent results received following arrival of second diamond drill rig and deepening of three previous RC drill holes.
DDH-LLA-02 (deepening of RC-LLA-26) yielded:
o 133m @ 0.44% Cu from surface
o 124m @ 0.39% Cu from 192m
DDH-LLA-03 (deepening of RC-LLA-25) yielded:
o 294m @ 0.30% Cu from 232m, which included 82m @ 0.39% Cu
DDH-LLA-01 (deepening of RC-LLA-10) as reported 13 October 2011:
o 496m @ 0.40% Cu from 210m, which included 126m @ 0.60% Cu
Two further diamond drill holes currently underway.
Geophysics (magnetic and IP) survey results received which are providing guidance to locate drill collars.
Further reverse circulation drilling continues to yield economic copper grades and has extended the porphyry footprint.

International mining company Southern Hemisphere Mining Limited is pleased to report further highly encouraging results from resource drilling at its Llahuin Copper Project ("Llahuin"), located 250 km north of Santiago, Chile, putting it on track to complete a maiden JORC compliant resource estimate for the Project in the first Quarter of 2012.

This is expected to lay the foundations for the commencement of a Scoping Study, which is also anticipated to commence during the first Quarter of 2012.

The ongoing program of deeper diamond drilling at Llahuin has been accelerated by the commissioning of a second DDH drill rig, which has now commenced drilling.

The diamond drill analysis results for the three completed DDH holes confirm that the mineralization extends to significant depths and remains open. DDH-LLA-001, DDH-LLA-002 and DDH-LLA-003 were deepening of holes RC-LLA-010, RC-LLA-026 and RC-LLA-025 respectively.

Highlights of the latest results from diamond and RC drilling are included below. Gold analysis results from this drilling campaign will be reported separately when received. Full drill results are available on the Company's website at www.shmining.com.au.

Commenting on the results, Southern Hemisphere's Managing Director, Trevor Tennant, said:

"The drilling program at Llahuin continues to extend the mineralisation, which remains open at depth and along strike. The results of the deeper holes are encouraging and the arrival of the second diamond drill rig will allow us to accelerate testing of the deeper mineralisation.

"The project is continuing to shape up extremely well and we are confident we will be in a position to calculate a maiden JORC resource estimate for the Project in the first Quarter of next year, laying the foundations to commence a Scoping Study."

Geology

Refer to July 18, 2011 ASX and TSX-V news release for Llahuin geological information.

Sampling and Analysis Procedures

From the RC drill holes from RC-LLA-025, 5kg samples were taken from each two metre interval. The samples are derived from riffle splitting each intercept. The samples were sent to Andes Analytical Assay Ltda (Chile) in Santiago for sample preparation and analysis. Duplicate samples were taken on a 1 in 20 basis. The cores from DDH holes were halved and each 2m interval of halved core submitted for analysis.

Analysis was undertaken using atomic absorption spectrometry methods. Andes Analytical Assay Ltda (Chile) is an independent full service commercial laboratory accredited under ISO 9001:2008. Standard samples and repeat analyses were used by the laboratory to provide checks on the assay results.
