Property Acquisition

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - Feb. 24, 2005) - Southern
Rio Resources Ltd. (TSX VENTURE:SNZ) (the "Company") is pleased to
advise that regulatory acceptance has been given for the acquisition of
a 100% interest in the Ebb Property consisting of 49 claim units
totaling approximately 1020 hectares located east of Boston Bar in
southern British Columbia. The property was acquired for staking costs
and the issuance of up to 50,000 common shares of the Company. All
shares issued under the agreement will be subject to a four month hold
period from the date of issuance.
