Southern Surgical Hospital to Present Slidell Memorial Hospital With Grant From Walk from Obesity

SLIDELL, LA--(Marketwire - October 15, 2008) - Southern Surgical Hospital, an annual sponsor of The Walk from Obesity, will present Slidell Memorial Hospital with a $5,000 grant on Saturday, November 8, 2008 to benefit their Fit as a Firefighter camp. The presentation will occur at 10:30am at Southern Surgical Hospital located at 1700 Lindberg Drive, Slidell, Louisiana.

The $5,000 grant is part of 10 (ten) $5,000 grants allotted by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) Foundation to cities who sponsor The Walk from Obesity.

"As a Walk leader, I was made aware of the grant opportunity and began searching for a worthy recipient in our community," stated Kim Mulkey, RN, CBN. "Slidell Memorial Hospital's 'Fit as a Firefighter' camp was a perfect fit."

Southern Surgical Hospital (SSH) will be hosting the Slidell area's 3rd annual Walk from Obesity Saturday, November 8, 2008. The Walk will begin at 8:30am and will end at approximately 11:00am.

The Walk from Obesity was established to give hope to those needing it most. Walkers raise money by asking friends, family and co-workers to sponsor them.
