Southwest Ambulance Continues Service to the City of Goodyear, AZ, With Five-Year, Exclusive Emergency Ambulance Contract

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - February 15, 2011) - Rural/Metro Corporation (NASDAQ: RURL) announced today that its Southwest Ambulance subsidiary was awarded the exclusive 911 emergency ambulance contract for the City of Goodyear, Arizona, on a unanimous vote last night of the Goodyear City Council.

The contract formalizes an exclusive arrangement with the City of Goodyear, as Southwest Ambulance has been the sole provider of emergency ambulance transport services to the city since 1980. The contract has an initial term of five years, followed by two 2-year renewal terms thereafter, for a total possible length of nine years. The contract is expected to generate $1.7 million in net ambulance revenue annually.

"Goodyear is a rapidly growing hub on the western edge of metro Phoenix and is a solid contributor to organic growth within our Southwest Zone," said Michael DiMino, President and Chief Executive Officer. "We are very proud to continue providing exceptional patient care and customer service to the citizens of Goodyear and look forward to many more years as the partner of choice for emergency medical transportation services."

Twenty minutes west of Metro Phoenix, Goodyear spans 189 square miles with a population of more than 62,000 residents. The city is among the fastest-growing in Arizona, with a projected population exceeding 75,000 by 2014. Goodyear is home to West Valley Hospital, an Abrazo Health Care facility, and the new Cancer Treatment Centers of America at Western Regional Medical Center. Southwest Ambulance's medical professionals provide nearly 3,000 transports in Goodyear annually.

"We have worked as an EMS partner to the Goodyear Fire Department for more than three decades and take our role very seriously when it comes to the delivery of seamless customer care," said Bryan Gibson, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. "Our personnel are dedicated providers of the finest ambulance transportation services in the state, and we look forward to continuing service in the City of Goodyear."
