Award-Winning Spa and Tennis Programming at Palm Desert Resort Continue to Earn A-List Accolades

PALM DESERT, CA--(Marketwire - January 14, 2011) - JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa is once again receiving praise for its exquisite spa and top-notch tennis offerings. Adding to its extensive list of accolades, the Palm Desert resort was recently awarded the prestigious Silver Sage Readers' Choice award from SPA Magazine and named as one of the "Top 50 Tennis Resorts in the U.S." by TENNIS Magazine

The 38,000 square-foot Spa Desert Springs has earned one of the spa industry's most sought-after accolades. The spa has been named as a SPA Magazine Silver Sage Readers' Choice winner in the category of "Favorite Resort/Hotel Spa - Southern California." More than 100,000 votes were cast this year for the magazine's fourth annual Silver Sage Readers' Choice Awards. Additionally, the Desert Springs resort spa was named to SPA Magazine's annual "Top 250 Spas" list, claiming a spot on the "Favorite Resort + Hotel Spas: Southern California" shortlist.

The editors of TENNIS Magazine named JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa to its annual "Top 50 Tennis Resorts in the U.S." list, a compilation of the best and most noteworthy tennis resorts across the country. Ranked as one of the top 10 resorts in the country, the tennis program at Desert Springs gained special recognition for its Grand Slam Round Robin, PBI Tennis Shows and large variety of offerings -- including 20 courts housing all three play surfaces (clay, grass and hard). The resort's tennis program is run by tennis director Jim Leupold of Peter Burwash International (PBI), one of the most comprehensive resort tennis programs in the world.

"We're thrilled to receive acclaim from publications as respected as SPA Magazine and TENNIS Magazine," said KC Kinsey, Director of Sales and Marketing at the Palm Springs luxury resort. "The recognition announces to a national audience what we've known all along: Our Desert Springs spa is the ideal spot to relax in complete, desert-inspired luxury; and our tennis offerings stand alone as one of the most well-rounded resort programs in the country."
