Sparkplug Communications Expands Wireless Network in Phoenix

Expansion Offers High-Speed Wireless Broadband Services to More Than 11,000 Phoenix Businesses

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - September 1, 2009) - Sparkplug Communications, a leading provider of fixed wireless business broadband services, today announced that it has expanded its network reach in the Phoenix, Arizona metro region.

Sparkplug is headquartered in Phoenix, and this expansion represents Sparkplug's growing importance to the businesses located in the greater Phoenix area. With the addition of two new tower sites, Sparkplug increases its Points of Presence (PoP) from 18 to 20 in Phoenix, and increases its coverage area by close to 20 percent in square miles. The growing business communities serviced by Sparkplug's new coverage area can now take advantage of Sparkplug's scalable, high capacity and affordable wireless broadband services.

The new South West Valley site covers over 5,832 West Phoenix businesses. It will serve major retail areas including the Desert Sky Mall, local manufacturing companies, the hospitality industry along the I-10 corridor, and healthcare facilities such as the Banner Estrella Medical Center and Maryvale Hospital, in addition to many medical offices associated with these hospitals.

One of Sparkplug's first customers on the South West Valley site, Natural Stone Manufacturing Co., Inc. (NSMCI), a leading manufacturer of Bagged Rock and Precast Concrete Landscape Products, chose Sparkplug for the quality and scalability of its fixed wireless network.

NSMCI needed to migrate quickly from its existing wireline provider because of service quality issues. Tom Vance, director of operations, NSMCI, emphasized he has multiple plants connected to NSMCI headquarters using centralized applications like accounting packages, and needed to plan for long-term expansion. "We are overpowered. Sparkplug gave us a very price competitive deal on our 10 Megabits circuit, which positions us very well for the continued growth of our company." Vance added, "Sparkplug engineered a failover design, which is something we had to do ourselves before. Not many other service providers offer a complete redundancy solution. I do not notice, if the failover is required, because our connection is flawless."

The North West Valley site is situated near the growing communities of Glendale, Peoria and Surprise. With this addition, Sparkplug expands it coverage to over 5,875 area businesses, including the Arena and several office parks including the Thunderbird Office Park. In addition, Sparkplug will serve the high concentration of medical offices in this area that have significant bandwidth requirements driven by imaging or radiological applications.

Sparkplug's network configuration ensures reliable high-speed connectivity that is 100% diverse from the traditional wireline network, with all of the same performance and security advantages. Sparkplug's wireless network is also able to grow in real-time with data requirements to increase capacity as customers need it.
