Specialized Technology Resources, Inc. (STR) to Change the Names of Its Subsidiaries to the STR Global Brand

ENFIELD, CT--(Marketwire - September 15, 2008) - Specialized Technology Resources, Inc. (STR), a leading global consumer product testing and quality assurance company, announced today that its subsidiary companies -- CSCC and Shuster Laboratories -- will change their names to STR as of January 1, 2009. STR, which has sophisticated laboratories and offices in over 30 countries across six continents and the capacity to provide audit services in over 140 countries around the world, is making the name transition to continue building a unified brand throughout the world.

This is the first step in a broad and long-term effort to improve client service, focus, and data management to better assist clients with their supply chain management, product performance, and responsible sourcing goals.

"We are very excited about transitioning our subsidiary companies to our global STR brand," said John Gual, COO of STR. "Having a single STR brand will help us build stronger business relationships throughout our diverse markets and provide comprehensive solutions to clients in a more effective manner."

STR acquired CSCC in 1999 and Shuster in 2002. CSCC, which was founded in 1991, will be known as STR's Responsible Sourcing division and will continue to help companies build secure and socially responsible relationships with their supply chain partners. Shuster, which was founded in 1955, is a well-known provider of product testing and quality assurance services for consumer packaged goods such as foods, nutritional supplements, pharmaceuticals, personal care products, and household chemical products. Shuster's industry experience complements STR's vast expertise in hard and soft consumer goods such as garments/textiles, toys/toy premiums, electronics/electrical equipment, and general merchandise.

"CSCC, Shuster, and STR already work closely and collaboratively on many shared clients, so the name change is the logical next step. It will make it much easier for companies to tap into STR's extensive worldwide operations and our full complement of services and capabilities," added Gual. "By unifying our companies under one name, we can help our clients achieve even greater competitive advantage in the global marketplace."

Top executives and staff at CSCC, Shuster, and STR will continue in their current positions. New e-mail addresses and a new website will be introduced by the end of the year. All phone numbers and mailing addresses will remain the same.

Enfield, CT-based Specialized Technology Resources, Inc. (STR), which was founded in 1944, is a privately held U.S. owned company that provides testing, audit, inspection, and responsible sourcing services to help clients have the highest level of confidence in the quality, safety, and social standards of their products and systems. With sophisticated laboratories and offices in over 30 countries across six continents, STR has the reach to provide audit services in over 140 countries around the world.
