BURNABY,
BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Feb. 2, 2010) - Spectrum Signal Processing by
Vecima ("Spectrum") (TSX:VCM), trusted supplier of signal
processing platforms for more than 20 years, today announced the availability
of a new high-definition (HD) video encoder that enables service providers to
cost-effectively deliver live, broadcast quality HD television over IP
networks. Spectrum's video encoding solutions can be used in a number of
applications in the video delivery market including IP television, remote
security monitoring, digital program distribution, and networked video.
"The launch of our new video
encoder enhances Spectrum's reputation as a leading provider of connectivity
solutions. This is in line with our strategic plan to expand into new markets
by leveraging our core technologies to provide commercial, in-demand products
at competitive prices," said Douglas Fast, President of Spectrum. "Spectrum's
video encoder products offer a compelling set of capabilities at a very attractive price."
Spectrum's DM-1320 Video
Encoder features high-quality, real-time encoding of up to two HD analog video
inputs to MPEG-2 HD with stereo audio encoding. Advanced encoding techniques
are used to generate an MPEG transport stream for transmission over IP.
The DM-1320 is software
upgradeable for advanced encoding standards. The next planned software upgrade
will be offered upon the release of Spectrum's DM-1321 Video Encoder, which
features cost-effective, real-time encoding of 1080i to H.264 with stereo audio
encoding and closed captioning. Other possible upgrades include SDI video
input, ASI output, QAM RF output, and DVB-parallel output.
