Speedwell Weather Announces Partnership With ZE PowerGroup Inc.

HARPENDEN, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Feb 11, 2014) - Speedwell Weather, a leader in the provision of weather data and forecasts, is pleased to announce a new partnership agreement with ZE PowerGroup Inc. (ZE), a global leader in enterprise data management solutions. With this agreement, ZE will be able to carry Speedwell data for use in its ZEMA application suite for any client for its specific licensed dataset. Speedwell supplies high quality weather data and forecasts to the energy, agriculture, commodity, insurance, and weather risk markets and is the dominant settlement agent for parametric weather risk contracts around the world. The collaboration between the two parties is the result of industry demands for both increased weather data and data management solutions that help promote decision making capacities for market participants.

Bruce Colquhoun, Manager of Business Development at ZE, acknowledged the desire of market participants for high-quality data. Bruce Colquhoun stated, "Quality weather data is required to manage exposure to weather and the increasing sensitivity of prices to weather forecasts. Hence speed of accessing and ease of use of data is key to managing risk." Bruce added, "Organizations also wish to remove the inefficiency and time associated with manually managing data in spreadsheets. ZEMA excels at this task, automating the collection, analysis, and integration of data both from the market and internal sources."

David Whitehead, Director of U.S. Operations at Speedwell Weather, said, "Our partnership reflects the growing realization that understanding and quantifying weather risk requires access to high quality data." David continued, "Speedwell Weather has built what we believe to be the largest private sector database of world-wide weather data, and we see the partnership with ZE as a significant development that will improve our clients' abilities to integrate Speedwell's weather information into their internal risk management systems."
