Sperian Protection Is First to Launch 100% Sterile Emergency Eyewash Stations in Canada

SMITHFIELD, RI--(Marketwire - September 21, 2009) - Sperian Protection, the world leader in emergency eye care, today announced it has launched its 100 percent sterile emergency eyewash stations in Canada. The Fendall 2000™ and Sterile Fendall Pure Flow 1000® are the first sterile primary emergency eyewash stations available to the Canadian market.

Unlike other portable, sealed-fluid cartridge units, Sperian's Fendall 2000 and Sterile Fendall Pure Flow 1000 stations work with the company's sterile saline solution and feature nozzles and tubing which remain sealed until the unit is activated, ensuring 100 percent sterile eyewash delivery. The units, which are easy to install and maintain, also feature a containment system that captures waste water, eliminating the risk of spills. For added comfort, proper use and improved compliance, the Fendall 2000 also includes ergonomic features such as an arm and head rest, and an alarm that signals when someone has activated the unit and needs help, and windows for easy-to-view solution reference information.

The completely self-contained units are compact, durable and modular, and function with sterile saline cartridges that have a shelf life of up to two years. Windows on the Fendall 2000 allow for easy view of lot numbers, expiration dates and drug facts information on the cartridge.

"The introduction of our sterile emergency eyewash stations in Canada is a significant first," said Kelly Piotti, product manager of Emergency Eyewash Products for Sperian Protection. "Our sterile offerings have been a great success in the U.S. because they ensure the safest and most effective first aid treatment for eye injuries anywhere that hazards exist. Now, the Canadian market will also benefit significantly from these first-of-their-kind products."

As certified primary eyewash units, both stations deliver sterile solution for the full 15-minutes as required by ANSI. In addition, because these stations are portable, they facilitate meeting the requirement to be within a ten second walk of chemical hazards including painting operations and solvents, battery charging stations, tool parts washers, laboratories, hazardous chemical storage, and chemical pumping and/or mixing areas.

The Fendall 2000 and Sterile Fendall Pure Flow 1000 emergency eyewash stations and Sperian's sterile saline solution meet Canada's requirements for Class 1 and 2 medical devices and have received a medical license from Health Canada.

Sperian® sterile eyewash stations are available through major safety equipment distributors nationwide or by contacting the customer care department directly at 1-800-FENDALL, option #3. For additional product information please visit www.fendall.com.
