Spiceworks Achieves Profitability and Strengthens Position as World's Largest IT Community

One in Three SMB IT Professionals Now in Spiceworks, Managing Nearly $400 Billion in Technology Spend Each Year

AUSTIN, TX--(Marketwire - Oct 9, 2012) - Today at the sold-out, fifth annual SpiceWorld user conference, Spiceworks™, Inc. CEO Scott Abel shared details on a number of important company milestones and accomplishments from the past year. Key highlights include growth of the Spiceworks Community to 2.2 million IT professionals and more than 1,200 technology vendors, and users have spent more than 3 billion minutes in Spiceworks this year. The company has also achieved profitability on an EBITDA basis through strong growth from products that help technology vendors reach and connect with IT professionals.

"In 2006, we bet that consumer web models would work for the business market," said Scott Abel, co-founder and CEO of Spiceworks. "By offering the industry's first ad-supported IT management software application, we created the world's largest community for IT professionals and technology vendors, which has allowed us to build a successful, high-growth business with multiple revenue streams."

Community Growth and New Technologies Offer Opportunities for Technology Vendors

The Spiceworks Community has grown to 2.2 million IT professionals who have spent more than 3 billion minutes in Spiceworks in 2012. IT pros in Spiceworks will manage nearly $400 billion in technology products and services spend this year, up from $293 billion a year ago.

Half a million IT pros have joined Spiceworks in the past year with more than 2,000 new users joining each day. SMB IT pros use Spiceworks to manage more than 130 million computers and devices, up from 97 million a year ago. Today, they support more than 71 million workers in 1.3 million companies.

To help IT pros simplify their day-to-day lives, the company introduced Spiceworks 6.0 in July, which includes automated cloud services discovery features, an agent for remote devices, and a new social IT knowledge base. New tablet applications for Apple iPad and Google Android-based devices were introduced in September to give IT professionals the ability to manage their environments on the go. Over the next year, new features that support cloud environments, mobile devices and IT service providers will be important focus areas for the company.
