Spiceworks Unveils Personalized Newsfeed and Mobile App for Millions of IT Professionals

New Features Help IT Professionals Access the Most Relevant Information They Need to Get Their Jobs Done Anytime, Anywhere

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - May 10, 2016) - Spiceworks today unveiled new features to its professional IT network including an enhanced, personalized newsfeed and a native mobile app for smartphones and tablets. The new features enable IT professionals to more easily collaborate with their peers and technology partners, access technology tips, and find the information they need to get their jobs done.

First launched in 2006, Spiceworks connects millions of IT professionals and thousands of technology brands in the largest IT network of its kind. Technology professionals come to Spiceworks each day to find solutions to IT issues, research and review products, explore career opportunities, and discuss the latest technology trends.

"Joining Spiceworks is one of the best things I've done for my career," said Gabriel Rodriguez, IT Support Specialist at BaubleBar Inc. "It's the first place I go to get advice from my peers and help validate the IT decisions I make on a daily basis. Over the years, it's become one of the most important tools in my IT arsenal not just in terms of my day-to-day work but also in the relationships I've built and connections I've made."

The new features Spiceworks announced today for its IT network include:

  • Mobile app: The beta version of Spiceworks Mobile provides technology professionals with unlimited access to the top IT discussions and insights they need on the go. Over the next few months, the mobile app will include push notifications, advanced search capabilities, and private messaging so IT professionals can access the full experience of Spiceworks' IT network on their mobile devices.
  • Personalized newsfeed: The personalized newsfeed, now available for the mobile and desktop experience, surfaces relevant discussions and tech news of the day based on users' interests and the people, groups, and technology brands they follow. The newsfeed enables IT professionals to stay connected to their peers at all times and on top of the issues that matter to them most.
  • Daily Challenge: The new Daily Challenge is a fun way for technology professionals to test their IT knowledge on a variety of topics and sharpen their IT skills that directly relate to their jobs. Questions can be submitted by fellow IT professionals and span a range of topics from cloud services to security to networking. The Daily Challenge is available today in the Spiceworks mobile and desktop experience.

"As the pace of technology rapidly changes and an overwhelming amount of information becomes available, the relevancy of content to individuals has become a critical element to any professional network," said Tabrez Syed, Vice President of Products at Spiceworks. "We've recognized an opportunity to help IT pros by creating a more personalized experience and surfacing the right content, people, and information that's accessible anytime and anywhere. Ultimately, we're putting the power in the hands of IT pros to help them be the best IT pro they can be."
