Spine Wave Announces the Commercial Launch of the Titanium Coated StaXx(R) XD Expandable Device: StaXx(R) XDTi

StaXx(R) XDTi: The Modulus of Stacked PEEK, The Surface of Titanium, All in an Expandable Implant

SHELTON, CT--(Marketwired - Oct 13, 2015) -  Spine Wave, Inc. is committed to the commercialization of high-quality, innovative medical devices for the treatment of spinal disorders. Through the StaXx® family of products and the recently introduced Leva™ Interbody Device, Spine Wave continues to pioneer the field of expandable spacers. The commercial launch of StaXx® XDTi further strengthens Spine Wave's product offering in this important and rapidly growing market segment.

StaXx® XDTi combines the radiolucency and unique modulus of stacked PEEKi with the surface properties of commercially pure titanium. This one-of-a-kind device appeals to the spine surgeon who appreciates the technological features of the StaXx® XD Expandable Device but desires the bone to implant interface of titanium. The layer of titanium is bonded to the implant with the resultant coating having a thickness of approximately 325µm. This offers the benefit of a titanium textured surface with minimal impact on the radiolucency of the device once implanted.

"The StaXx® line of expandable PEEK spacers has been extremely well received in the marketplace with leading spine surgeons from around the country having implanted over 40,000 devices," said Mark LoGuidice, Spine Wave Chief Executive Officer. "The addition of StaXx® XDTi is a natural evolution and represents the latest step in our pursuit to provide our surgeon customers with the most comprehensive expandable implant portfolio in the market. The product was very well received during the limited release over the last several months and we are very pleased to be able to launch it commercially at the NASS meeting in Chicago."
