Spiracur Named a Finalist for the 2013 Red Herring Top 100 North America Award

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwired - May 14, 2013) - Spiracur Inc., developer of the SNaP® Wound Care System, an advanced wound care solution with the proven efficacy of Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT), announced today it has been selected as a finalist for Red Herring's Top 100 North America award. The prestigious list honors this year's most promising private technology ventures from the North American business region.

"We are honored by Red Herring's recognition of Spiracur and our innovative wound care technology for its Top 100 North America award," said Gary Restani, president and chief executive officer for Spiracur Inc. "Spiracur is committed to the ongoing development of ground breaking wound healing solutions to improve the treatment of chronic and acute wounds as well as to improve the quality of life for patients."

Spiracur is credited with creating a new category of chronic and acute wound management solutions by combining the benefits of advanced wound care with the proven efficacy of NPWT. The SNaP System is easy to use, completely silent and lightweight (2.2 ounces), and requires no electricity or batteries, offering patients a reliable clinical solution that is discreet. Patients who are treated with the SNaP System may benefit from faster healing due to earlier intervention enabled by its innovative design, and the device interferes significantly less with overall activity, sleep and social interactions. A number of clinical studies have been published supporting the SNaP Wound Care System as an effective alternative to powered NPWT, including a comparative Randomized Controlled Trial that also showed the powerful, small device makes a positive difference in patients' quality of life.

Red Herring has been selecting the most exciting and promising start-ups and "scale ups" since 1995. Finalists are evaluated individually from a large pool of hundreds of candidates based across North America. Finalist selections for the 2013 edition of the Red Herring 100 North America award are based upon technological innovation, management strength, market size, investor record, customer acquisition and financial health. The list of finalists often includes the best performing and prominent companies of that year.

"The finalists list confirms the excellent choices made by entrepreneurs and VCs and the start-ups' solid roots in corporate America, embracing their innovations," said Alex Vieux, publisher and chief executive officer of Red Herring. "By all metrics, it emphasizes the United States' entrepreneurial excellence."
